Preparing for my iphone

Made the decision, now I just have to wait until my upgrade on November 8th. I am actually going to take Stevi's iphone, she wants a basic phone...(thank God!) So I will take her iphone and she wants the Samsung LG that has the slide keyboard for text messaging. I went to the Apple Store today, I needed help since I am so computer illiterate, and had them help me to merge the ical with my palm thru mobileme. It is all merged together so I am ready for the change. I was so scared I was going to lose my information since I use it for all my business and I have all my contacts for business in my palm also. So come November 8th I am ready to go. Wish me luck.......I am excited, but nervous, argh, change is scary for me as far as technology.

No looking Back......

We have finally finished getting the rest of what we could out of the old house. It was hard, depression, time restraints and just lack of motivation and energy kept us away. There was also a lot of bad energy in that house. Great memories but extremely painful ones as well. 10 years can accumulate a lot. I will miss the family back yard parties and nieces and nephews running up and down the stairs then out to the trampoline, hide-n-seek, doors slamming, hot tub, and of course the space. I will however be happy to shed the bad memories of our alcohol years of tears and fighting and almost splitting up many times. We put our hearts into that house and made it our own and it makes me sad. 10 years down the tubes. Should have never re-financed, definitely should NOT have listened to the mortgage broker who refinanced us at the peak of prices and assured us we could re-finance again before our payments went up. Things work out as they should, we got Stevi away from O'Brien Middle School and into Shaw as we had planned to in the first place. Our intentions where to move to a better area for her difficult years, but as it turned out, we were unable to sell and pushed into a new direction....starting over in our 40's. Yippee......Well, we are not the only family to have lost their house, and at least we have a roof over our heads and food in our mouths. That is a heavy weight lifted off of our shoulders, I don't know what happens next, but as of today, the bank still won't talk to me because I am not on the loan, Jay doesn't want to call them because he knows nothing about our finances and the bank still hasn't contacted us to let us know that the bank owns the property.

On a lighter note, we leave for the family reunion today, and I will be taking my laptop along to take you along with us, Liz is unable to go which breaks my heart, but she will at least be able to read about it and see pictures........wish you could go Sis.....Love you!

Weight Watchers, the beginning to a life long lesson......

We may not need to lose as much weight as most of the Weight Watchers, but we all joined as a family last night. Jay needs to lose around 30 , I could lose around 15, and Stevi 15 to 20. Dr. Fenwick 6 months ago said she needed to lose around 40 but she had such a growth spurt that she is balancing out. I'm sure a lot of you think I am crazy, but you try to teach your husband and a 12 year old about good vs. bad choices and portion control. I think that if we all follow this together, it is a principal that will stay with us for life. It is easy to follow and basically teaches you about portions and choices, such as if you know you want to splurge on dessert, eat healthy and light before.

The point system goes by your weight and activity levels and age. I get a measly 20 points because I am older and weigh the least, Stevi gets 27 points because of her age, but she also gets to add points for different activities, for instance, today she will have an hour soccer practice so she gets an additional 3 points to use, or not. Jay gets 41 points, he has the most weight to lose, but also because he is a construction worker and a man, he gets an additional 6 points a day. Jay and I both get additional activity points, today while Stevi is at soccer, we will run/walk for 30 mins, I get to add 3 points if I would like and Jay gets 5.5. In addition to the daily points, you get 35 flex points, kind of like a savings account, in case you go over a couple extra points, or you can store them for a special occasion, Stevi is keeping hers for a Monday sleep over because they are having pizza, which is 6 points a piece, I hope to use mine at the family reunion. Every week at weigh-in, your flex points start over so they don't accumulate. Stevi is really excited and now has the tools to make her choices without me hovering over her. She hopes to lose at least half by the time school starts, which I think will be great, me, I am doing this for her. I do the shopping and menu planning, I could lose weight on my own, I have done it before, but to get the whole family together on the band wagon, it will be much easier and hopefully start Jay and Stevi off on eating healthy for life..........

There's an app for that.......

After many wonderful and informative comments on Facebook from all of my friends willing to help.....I am still not sure what I am doing.  Jay and Stevi were both eligible for phone upgrades and we are all in terrible need of new phones. Jay received his union vacation check and even though in the past we have always used it to pay bills, I actually asked him what he wanted to do with his money.......New phones!  Ok.  We went to the ATT store on Plumb and Brandon was great, I spoke to the customer service team on the phone and because my phone is ready to take a dive, they approved an early upgrade for me (Jay and Stevi both have new toys).  I am still torn between the iphone and the Blackberry Curve......I've had comments that have both helped and confused me.  At ATT both of the customer service reps, the one in the store and the one on the phone, switched from the Blackberry to the iphone.....and they love it.  Not to mention, the Blackberry is actually the same price or more, I can write it off to the salon, so where is the problem?  I have a MAC computer, so it only makes sense to get an iphone, I guess there is an app. you can get that automatically syncs your computer to phone and vice versa.  My next trip is to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store to see how to coincide the palm and icalendar together.  If they made it seem effortless and I won't lose any information, I think that is the direction I will be heading.  Just a little more research on my part and I will be ready.......

Happy Birthday Kenneth......

Kenneth turned 12 on the 6th......I know this is late, but blogging anymore seems to be put on hold.  He has changed quite a bit, he used to be so bashful but all of a sudden he seems to be coming out of his shell.  My mom, Stevi and I picked Steve and Kenneth up at their house and took them to Red Robin for lunch and to Game Stop so Kenny could pick out a game, he chose Madden 2009.  Good choice!  We had a lot of fun and laughter, Stevi and Kenny where both being pretty silly.  All in all a good day, wish I could have done more, I probably shouldn't have even spent what I did since I can't even pay my bills lately, but oh well, it was  fun,  then I get home and watch Dr. Phil about people with out of control spending and debt and one of the first things he said was if you don't have the money to spend you don't spend it no matter what.  I am working on this.

I just got one credit card paid off, don't get excited, there was only $114.67 left on it, but another thing Dr. Phil said was to cut up all your credit cards.  Hard to do, don't know why since I can't use them at all anymore.......I am going to do it right now.......sigh......here goes....Everything in my wallet, except my debit card and American Express (I use it to get into Costco)   will be cut up into tiny pieces.  It is now 11:05 am.  Can you do it?

Hooking................

Well you do learn something new everyday......here's a new one to me.........hooking.  Ever heard of it?  Well it's probably not what you're thinking.  I went out to Jazz for dinner with girlfriends last night and we were having "girl" conversations and watching the young girls working the room and laughing saying things like.."Remember those days?"  "She's doing it all wrong!"  "If she only knew...."  Then we started to talk about nightclub memories and the subject of "Hooking" came up.  I had never heard of it and my girlfriends who are all in their 50's sans one, were so excited that they had something new to teach me.

Let me set up the scenario ..........the girls all choose a "Prospect"  and make bets on the reaction, usually a dollar buys you in......then they go on the dance floor while the judge sits and watches.  The chosen "Hooker"  has to be sly, while dancing you dance near the "Prospect" and go up from behind him and cup him between the legs while he is dancing with someone but you cannot act like anything has happened.  The Judge then watches the reaction and the winner takes all. Gross you say?  I think it is hilarious, how many times have you been groped on a dance floor?  We are able to freak out, slap whatever, but imagine a guys reaction?  Usually they stop mid-dance for a second and act like nothing happened..some turn around very sure of themselves to see who "wants" them.  Some jump, some say thank-you, some want to figure out who did it and why, but if you all act normal they are to embarrassed to ask a group of girls and scared you are going to think THEY are the pervert......you can imagine.  I think that is hilarious, I am going to a bachelorette party  up in Tahoe in 2 weeks and these girls are at least 10 years younger than me, I want to be the judge and money distributor.  Sound gross and wrong or hilarious and fun?  Hmm depends on the day!
