Today was a great day...

Today was a great Sunday.... last night while putting together Stevi's bed set that we bought from RC Wiley 3 years ago..(It was a floor model so it was missing pieces...) It fell apart and was not going to happen.  Following my sisters lead, I got on Craig's list and we got her an Ikea canopy Queen sized bed and box spring with mattress for a great price.  Jay went and picked it up while Stevi and I went and saw "21 Jump Street" with our friends Stacy and CJ, then the four of us had lunch.  For a movie review... I would recommend it.  It was laugh out loud funny.  I have never seen Channing Tatum in a comedy but he did great.  I think this may have been the only movie he has been in where he didn't take his shirt off, but besides that it was great.

Afterwards we went across the street to Campo's which is a locally owned restaurant that just opened.  I am still not sure if I will go back.  The menu was minimal and the gourmet pizza was just okay.

Afterwards Stevi and I went bargain shopping because our guest bedroom and Stevi's bedroom now have queen beds in them so we needed new bedding.  Jay and Stevi are still putting together the bed for her so ours is still on the floor but for a Sunday...Shopping, a movie and lunch with great friends is always a great way to end the week.  Thanks Stacy and CJ for the friendship and laughter, love you both!

How does a Mother protect a teenage daughter in this day of technology?

How does a mother protect a child these days?  It's nearly impossible.  Regardless of how you try, there is now texting, facebooking, bullying at school......

One way a mother can TRY, is to monitor Facebook, as I do, daily.  This is how I know who these kids really are.  Most of them have a different personality away from adults, but my eyes were opened pretty wide last night.

Once one negative comment goes on, the all start packing like wolves...kids that would never have to balls to say something to some one's face while looking them in the eye, all of a sudden can become vicious, mean and uncaring.  I couldn't take it anymore and jumped in on the pack trying to get them to stop.  Some did, but then as more started in on the "fun"  more comments kept coming and coming.  I got pretty pissed off and I tried to bite my tongue but I couldn't.  A few of these kids were actually friends, or so I thought that she has spent a LOT of time with away from school, on the phone etc. , over the last couple of years ,and I have become pretty fond of them.  One kid I've known since he was around 8, one girl she had as a team mate on one of her sports teams.  I did call the one I actually adored the most an asshole after awhile and then of course they turned it on me and I got the wrath of the pack saying I was bullying children and they were going to tell their Mom's.  I realized it was only going to get worse so I deleted what I could and simmered in anger for awhile.  Bubba was ready and on the prowl.  I realize they are just immature kids and they pulled the ugly out in me as well.  We all have a little in us.  One thing I do know, I will never trust these frienemies ever again.... EVER.  They had me fooled and showed their true colors and they had a lot of fun and  thought it was  fun  to  hurt Stevi so much that  her mom got upset.  Pretty sad.  I now realize that they are allowed to wallow in their own shit and that they obviously love to stir it up and don't have any other way of bullying except over the internet because they can't actually do something to someone's face and apparently have nothing better to do on a Saturday night.  I had a fantastic purge party last night and unsubscribed  these fabulously raised children.  They sad thing is, I am friends with one of the kids parents and I would never have the heart to tell them what a shit head he is.  None of these kids have respect for themselves , others or adults and it really is sad.  I am done being pissed off.  I can't even pity them at this point.  I know one thing, I hope I never see them at the school or elsewhere, especially anytime soon.  Stevi can let it go because she is so over the High School drama and is too nice to actually fight over it (she infact cares about hurting others),  I on the other hand am new to this and have never been as nice and sweet as my daughter.  I can be your best friend or your worst enemy, once you cross the line, I never forget....And I won't....Good luck out there kiddo's ....You will need it, Karma is one Hell of a Bitch.

Ha! Bet you didn't expect this!

Happy! Today is a new day and I choose to be happy. Today I will smile and laugh. Choosing these pictures made me smile. I will go to work and "Git er done." Today I challenge you to think of your life, your memories and when one makes you smile, take a moment to call that person, don't text message them just take a moment to call them and share that memory with them and make them smile today too. I promise you it will be rewarding!

Halloween Rant........

Everyone has been complaining about the price of costumes. I think I may have a solution. How about a costume co-op? Beg, Barrow, Trade or Steal? We all have tons of costumes for different age groups, some handmade, some from our closets, some store bought. Why don't we list what we have after Halloween, and the sizes and see if anyone is interested in borrowing them for the next Halloween? Then whoever borrows has the whole year to accessorize, add to or take away to make it just what they need. In just the photos I posted, I have a soccer player, a softball player, a dead sock hop girl which comes with an awesome home made poodle skirt and hula hoop, Sage is Cinderella, Guoda is Courtney Love and Jayson is Kurt Kobain. I know I can lend out stuff to be a biker, hairdresser, witch, Alice in Wonderland, The Cat in the Hat, a Candy Corn Witch, Hip Hop Dancer, ballerina, hockey player, a plug and socket set, Fat Elvis, Lisa Marie and I am sure so much more that I have forgotten, we can also mix and match, kind of check the costumes out like a library and have fun maybe do a cookie exchange one day and bring all our costumes from the past for everyone to pick through. I will post a poll for everyone to vote and if you're in, you're in!

Gray Eagle Creek Trail

We were expecting snow up in Graeagle. According to the forecast, it was to snow until 3 am this morning. The temperature was only supposed to reach 55 today, so we didn't know what to expect. Since my dogs basically only have lincoln logs for legs, I left them at home just in case. I really felt bad because they would have been fine.

Cheri brought her beagle Simon with her today and he and Chyla took a moment to get to know each other but after a bit they were fine, I think only having one new dog for Simon to meet is probably a good thing since he is normally a leash walker.

The weather was a bit chilly but all in all the hike WAS moderate, there were some hills but nothing like Fridays hike. I don't think Cheri thought of throwing rocks at me once this trip.

It really is beautiful up in the Plumas National Forest area, next week we will be hiking on Tuesday at Hunter Creek which is in the Mogul area, so we won't have to travel, however it is a 7 mile hike so it will take us 3-4 hours. Cheri showed up sporting new hiking boots and said they really made a difference, so tomorrow after Mom and I do our "Fitness Express" class at noon, we are going to head over to Sierra Trading Post to see if there are any boots in our budget. (Budget, hate it, hate it, HATE IT!)
Check out the dew on this leaf, it really was gorgeous up there. We had a great time, Cheri was a trouper and I think we now have a hiking partner!

Cheri gave me a boost up for a photo opp. ......it didn't work as I had fantasized, I got up and slid right back down.......oh well! Got to love friends with a helping hand......

The Broken Dog and Pissed off Friend.......

My mom and I started hiking a month ago, and our goal is to hike/snowshoe/cross country ski once a week to be one with ourselves and nature. I apparently (this I found out JUST yesterday) am weird for loving to exercise the way I do....hmmm. So my Mom went to Barnes and Nobles and bought a hiking book for the Reno Tahoe area. So far we have done Ophir Creek Trail (Davis Creek area) Thomas Creek Trail (Arrowcreek) Mt. Washington (Plumas National Forest) and yesterday was Bear Lake Loop (Graeagle, Ca.)Yesterdays hike said 3.4 miles of moderate and scenic hiking.......I think that means if you stay on the trails that are in the book. Well who needs a book with memories such as ours, plus it is an adventure, right? We were supposed to loop around 4 lakes, Little Bear, Cub, Silver and Round. Only we kept on going, as the hike progressed into the most difficult hike so far, (and we brought a newbie, Cheri along since it was her first time we thought this moderate hike would be perfect to break her in) basically rock climbing, we came onto Long Lake. As my Mom said, "We should have know when the man we ran into said 'Worth the hike isn't it? No you don't want to go that way.....you want to go back around this way. Well ok, I am going this way, you girls have fun...' then split quickly." As we continued onward, I mean upward.....it got more and more difficult. Then we started to see signs that said 'Pacific Crest Trail' and 'Mt. Elwell'. Signs are a good sign right?
Cheri started to question my natural ability for finding our way back.....I assured her she did not need to be concerned as sometimes these trails can be deceiving and we always find our way back. After around two to two and a half miles of climbing up, and quite a few rests (photo opps.) I told them to hang on and I would hike further up and see where the trail was heading. At that point I came down and told them that I thought maybe we should turn around since there was a guy in Leiderhossen's (sp) who didn't speak any english but I think he was asking for my passport. So we did turn around then found the same sign we had found before that said 1/2 mile to Round Lake........why didn't that make sense before? I don't know. Onward soldiers. We are now 4 miles into our 2-3 mile "moderate" hike. Why is it when you are hiking, you are always hiking uphill? Even on your way back? Does that happen to anyone else? Cheri is now not speaking to me and she has sunglasses on but I am pretty sure she is glaring at me...... We continued to hike up, found an old mining camp that we were sure was a plane wreckage..and the dogs dug for buried treasures which gave us some time to get water, rest and have a snack. Eventually we came to the top of the crest and started to head down, which seemed like it was taking a lot longer than we had anticipated that could have just been us because we were all exhausted, but an hour later, we came to where we had started. Luckily there was a map so we could track were we had gone and found that according to the legend, we went approximately 8 miles and were heading towards Alaska. My Timex watch that Jay bought me last Christmas doesn't have a pedometer, (I need to use Jay's I think) but it tracks your heart rate and it said I burned 1327 calories. That is more than most people burn in the gym for the week! We will continue to hike weekly, even thought Dyna has thrown up on two of our hikes (sorry Chrissi) and Raider was limping last night (I think he pulled something jumping out of the car at my Mom's house he is better today) and Cheri said she will go with us again on Monday, even though
in the car, she admitted to both of us that at one point, had she been able to bend over and pick up a rock, she would have thrown it at the back of my head. But she completed the most difficult hike for us so far, and my mom and I are a month into it on top of an exercise program. Good job Cheri. Hope to see you Monday, 9:15 for the Graeagle Creek Trail, 4.4 miles of "moderate" hiking..........yeah, we'll see.............

Jumping curbs and taking names later.......

Yesterday was my day of leisure...I woke up, called my Mommy, had a fun chat with her, got on the computer and started my shopping list. It takes even longer now that we are starting Weight Watchers tonight, I had to research everything and make sure it was point worthy. Most of it is common sense, some of it is surprising. My mom suggested a W.A.L.K. with the dogs and I thought about it for later. Then I called my friend Autumn because Stevi is having some issues with her computer and she is the "Computer Whisperer." She asked us if we would like to go for a bike ride later and it seems that every time she asks me I am busy or can't for one reason or another, I said yes this time. Stevi wanted to go to Rue 21 and get a couple of summer outfits for the Family Reunion, and keeping in the "Lets be active" mode I suggested that we go only if we ride out bikes. We rode over the and had to race back to beat the rain. Got home, made dinner and called Autumn. After a little deliberation on whether it would lightning or not, we were on to meet at 7pm at the Java Jolt on Vista. As Stevi and I wait anxiously in our summer clothes on our cute little Mountain Bikes, up rides two bike riders ready to hit the road in full gear.............uh-oh. Now you know, I am a glutton for punishment and I will try anything at least once so of course I point to the neighborhood up on the hill, way up on the hill, and say...."Lets go there." Autumn casually smiles and says sweetly......"You know that's uphill right?" As we head up the hill on Los Altos, we get about a block from the meeting place and head towards the sidewalk. First Shannon hops her fabulous bike up onto the curb then Autumn, now my turn...........looks easy enough. I pull up on the handle bars, not as high as I had expected, hit the curb, flip the bike and take Stevi out in the process with my back tire. Of course I didn't have a helmet on, so I protected my head with my arms and got a trophy in return on my arm and elbow. Of course I started laughing as soon as I did it because I realized this was my first attempt at looking cool in front of my friends and I ummmmmm didn't succeed. Stevi is OK as well, but hey what's a bike ride without a little adventure. Now I see why they looked so cool in their gear, it really wasn't for looks, hmm who knew. To finish the ride we all ended up at the Starbucks and enjoyed a coffee, tea and great conversation together. I will proudly wear my scabs and bruises was a badge of honor......I think a helmet may be a good investment!

Fun morning ride!

Jay and I have not had time, nor energy to ride, so last night my friend Ree was texting me and asked me to go on the wine walk. Since I can't because of Stevi's Predator BBQ, game against parents and awards ceremony, I invited her and her boyfriend Gary along. We started at Mimi's and had a great breakfast with lots of laughter and talk. Afterwards we went on a short ride out to Verdi to get lotto tickets, Ree was a virgin so I told her to just slap her 20 down on the counter and tell the guy in the red hat that she would have what Lisa and her Mom get. Miraculously she came back with lotto tickets, (I think that means MY MOM, is a regular, like Norm at Cheers if you will.)

I won $15 dollars! Yay, gas for the bikes then Gary led us through Verdi the back way and I took over through Summerset. When we reached the bottom of the hill at McCarran, Ree informed me that we needed to stop and get another Starbucks. Little did we know she was "meeting" someone there. We parked the bikes, and stepped inside. As we stood at the counter behind a few people deciding what we were going to order, Gary got side tracked and was looking at coffee in one of the baskets off to the side. Ree, grabbed the guy in front of her and gave him a terrific snuggle, feeling his chest and his tummy area very sweetly, she really seemed to like him, until he turned around and gave Gary a shrug like, "It happens everywhere I go."

She screamed and ran and hid behind the ad sign as we laughed hysterically, she though she was snuggling with Gary, but no, she now has a new friend. It was awesome! I have casually held another man's hand in the mall, not paying attention and in Winnemucca, Jay snuggled up to a woman at Round Table and attempted to put his arm around her while I watched, I guess it is Gary's turn!

Thankfully, the guy was a great sport and we laughed about it for the whole time we were there as well as the Starbucks workers and guests.

Have you ever thought you were with your significant other and done something like this? Please fess up!

Hi?

I feel lost.  I have disappeared from all computer access.  We are still moving, but getting there.  I am exhausted but one routine I have embraced since moving is to get up an hour earlier than I need to so I can do laundry and whatever chores need to be done, unpack a couple of boxes then take the dogs out, and enjoy a cup of coffee without rushing.  Sometimes I end up getting up before 4 am, but I have to say, this is something my mother always did, and now I finally get it.

Yanessa and Nicole have both come over to help Stevi arrange her rooms and she is sad she is leaving them but excited, although shy, about meeting new friends.

This year was one of the best Mother's Day's I have ever had, I was done.  Just done and Jayson invited us to go to the lake with he, Guoda , Villijia and Billy (Guoda's mother and her boyfriend)  and they brought a Wave Runner and we all got to play for the day, I ended up with blisters but it was so nice to escape.  (Before we left, I got up at 5 and got the toilets scrubbed and 2 boxes unpacked so I didn't feel guilty at all about sitting on the beach and playing badminton with the kids.

The hairshow was hectic this year which really surprised me, but I am glad I went.  Good times with the girls and as always very interesting people watching.  Took a great class that Christi hooked me up with with Robert Cromeans and got some great ideas for this horrible economy that I am going to definitely use.

Well, I need to go for now, I need to get caught up on my Blog reading........It's gonna take awhile, and I have been on the computer since 11:30 this morning getting caught up, it is now 7:31, I will quit when Jay serves dinner. (That's right, you read that correctly!)

Today we head to San Jose.....

This morning I will head over to Christi's house pick up her and Maddi, bring Maddi to school, go to the salon, do our hair for the show then hit the road.

I travel well with Christi, we pack snacks and only stop to get another Starbucks and to pee.  She is truly like my "Sister from another Mister."
I love going up with Christi,  she has to work it and I don't therefore, I have all day  Saturday to read, chill or just walk around.  This year I have been stashing a little more money so I have a little more to spend, not much mind you, but some.  I drive, Christi got the room.  Tita, Angie and Jeanne will be meeting us up there on Saturday night, it should be a fun weekend, I have been torn what to do with my hair, as you can see last year it was pretty normal, so I am going shorter and bright red today with black chunks........Hope Adam doesn't see me, if he does, he may go straight!

PS  Remind me when I get back to tell you a hair raising story, I don't have the time this morning, but you will like it........or not.

Partay!

You've all heard of Tupperware parties?  Lingerie Parties?  Pampered Chef?

I was watching the news the other night and the latest and greatest thing now is hosting a gold party.  You heard me....A Gold Party.  Only this party, you bring all your old, unwanted, broken and forgotten gold and they pay you.  I researched it and the average person leaves with over $100.  The host also gets a 10% cut of what is purchased.  I have been in contact with Dan Neiz  in Sparks who hosts the Gold Parties  and I am planning on hosting a party at Salon Moxie.  So dig in your jewelry box and get out the Black Hills Gold items and nugget rings and lets make some money!  I will keep you posted as to the date it will be held.

Super Fun!

What a crazy week, I did however get in five workouts!  Yay Me!  Monday I had to have Stevi at soccer practice at 7:50am, she made the school soccer team, I made it to Yoga, brought Stevi to her doctors appointment to go over her MRI results which basically said that she is growing so fast her muscles can't keep up with her bones, so for now she is taking a break from dance, then Stevi and I went to our quilting class. Tuesday I had to work but before work I got Stevi to soccer practice, then Jay brought her to softball practice so I could get to my spin class after work. Wednesday, get Stevi to soccer practice, go to work, go to my Bosu Circuit training class then freshen up as much as possible to go to my friend Randy's house for a Beijo Purse Party, which hopefully will end up being a great part time job for Chrissi, and yes  I bought a fabulous bag and a wallet, I have been stashing any $5 bills I come across for mad money, so I had some, I actually had to write a check for the tax but oh- well.  Thursday I went to a step class in the morning, then to my dermatologist appointment, met Chrissi and Jack at Mimi's for brunch (thanks Chrissi!) off to Spanish Springs to wash my car with Jack and go look at a rental on Robert Banks Blvd, still haven't heard back from the Townhomes so not holding my breath, and then took Jack to Stevi's softball practice so he could play in the park, pick up dinner and wait for Chrissi to come grab her baby boy for the night because I had to be at work at 6 am Friday. Friday I ended up working from 6am to 8pm but from 1-3 I went to my friend Judy's funeral and then to Brickie's for lunch with my mom before heading back to work, after my last client, who is also a friend of mine, I was invited by her and her daughter to go have dinner with them at Pinnochio's which was a great way to end the day, got home at 10:15 because we took our time with girl talk.  Saturday morning, I woke up to my alarm so I could make it to Spin class at 8:30 and stopped at 7-11 on my way home to grab 3 plain donuts so Grandma and Grandpa had some kind of treat for Jack since Chrissi dropped him off at 10:00.  In the meantime, Jay had to go get Stevi at Skytavern because she went off a jump while snowboarding and someone went over the jump after her, she crashed, he landed on top of her and knocked the wind out of her to the point she blacked out for a second or two.  Now we have Jack, he just woke up from his nap and Tyra is dropping Mashae off at 2;45, Jack is coming to the salon to get a faux hawk for his picture appointment at 4,  we are going back to look at the house around 5, my mom is meeting up at the mall and Shae is staying the night because Stevi is babysitting her cousin for the whole night. Whew, Slumber party!  Tomorrow after Jack leaves, we are going to grab Gary, (Judy's husband) and get him out of the house for a motorcycle ride then dinner. Done, pooped finished.

For a good cause.......

Some of my favorite adult memories are with Judy.  She is so full of life and always upbeat and happy.  On Saturday her daughter Katie threw a fund raiser for her medical fund.  She has cancer, everywhere.  I haven't seen her for around a month, she hasn't felt up to visitors but in my heart I see her smile, hear her laugh and see her dancing.   The dinner was nice, the house that hosted it nicer and we had an enjoyable evening.  The game room was fun, I enjoyed watching my mom and husband and daughter battle at Foosball, I have tried to download the pictures my mom has sent me, but after 2 hours I am now giving up.  Oh well, I am so computer savvy, I am sure it will come to me at any time.  Please keep Judy in your thoughts and prayers, she in a hospital in Mexico for the next 3 weeks under going some new treatments as she is unable to continue Radiation and Chemotherapy because she is beyond the stages of those particular treatments.  Oh Judy, I love you so much, hang in there.................

Oh boy........and girl..........

Yup, my kids are 10 years apart, and fight just like all brothers and sisters do as they grow up.  He's 21, she's 11.  She just took his White Sox hat and threw it into the ceiling fan, which shot it across the room, I have to admit, it was completely random and it was hard to keep a straight face, so we all started laughing......so he promptly took her new converse and ran upstairs with it, with her in hot pursuit, then with doors slamming and screaming, running, slapping, pulling hair and kicking in boy spots, of course, with Jayson at over 6' and 235 lbs, and Stevi weighing in at half that size, and half his age, Jayson was in the lead,  until Stevi started crying.  She did start it, so I told her she asked for it........now she is mad at me.  I usually am telling Jayson to leave her alone, but she is getting older and she is starting more, so now, if she provokes big brother and gets into a situation........well how else is she going to learn.  So now she is upstairs in her room pouting.  I hope they don't do this forever.
