Fun morning ride!

Jay and I have not had time, nor energy to ride, so last night my friend Ree was texting me and asked me to go on the wine walk. Since I can't because of Stevi's Predator BBQ, game against parents and awards ceremony, I invited her and her boyfriend Gary along. We started at Mimi's and had a great breakfast with lots of laughter and talk. Afterwards we went on a short ride out to Verdi to get lotto tickets, Ree was a virgin so I told her to just slap her 20 down on the counter and tell the guy in the red hat that she would have what Lisa and her Mom get. Miraculously she came back with lotto tickets, (I think that means MY MOM, is a regular, like Norm at Cheers if you will.)

I won $15 dollars! Yay, gas for the bikes then Gary led us through Verdi the back way and I took over through Summerset. When we reached the bottom of the hill at McCarran, Ree informed me that we needed to stop and get another Starbucks. Little did we know she was "meeting" someone there. We parked the bikes, and stepped inside. As we stood at the counter behind a few people deciding what we were going to order, Gary got side tracked and was looking at coffee in one of the baskets off to the side. Ree, grabbed the guy in front of her and gave him a terrific snuggle, feeling his chest and his tummy area very sweetly, she really seemed to like him, until he turned around and gave Gary a shrug like, "It happens everywhere I go."

She screamed and ran and hid behind the ad sign as we laughed hysterically, she though she was snuggling with Gary, but no, she now has a new friend. It was awesome! I have casually held another man's hand in the mall, not paying attention and in Winnemucca, Jay snuggled up to a woman at Round Table and attempted to put his arm around her while I watched, I guess it is Gary's turn!

Thankfully, the guy was a great sport and we laughed about it for the whole time we were there as well as the Starbucks workers and guests.

Have you ever thought you were with your significant other and done something like this? Please fess up!

All Star Tryouts...

Hmmmmmmm.....Not sure.  We are going to ride the bikes back over at 1 to find out.  She did good on some things, not so good on others.  It is her first year so the fact that she was even invited to try-out is awesome.  We took her to the batting cages yesterday, good thing because she smacked the ball, and quite a few girls missed it and need to be under hand pitched to because the pitching machine was too fast for them.  She smacked the first two balls hard!  Trying out for first base she did pretty good, not perfect but she hustled and she will get points for that.  I would say it's a toss up.  Hmmmmm, I really don't know.  If she makes it great, if she doesn't, it is incredible that she was even invited!  I will let you know later.......

The Reason for FACEBOOK

I have become addicted to FACEBOOK.  But now I know it is ok.  I have reconnected with so many people it is amazing.  One being Niki Moran, now Niki Davis.  I have known Niki since kindergarten.  Yes, 35 years.  Amazing.  She was always so sweet and so pretty.  I remember when we actually became friends.  3rd grade.  She asked me if I wanted to come play Barbie's at her house.  Only I didn't think I could because I didn't have any Barbie's.  She said "That's ok.....I have plenty!"  So I went to her house.  Confession........I liked to play with trucks and cars, I didn't do dolls (except Raggety Anne of course)  but I went because she was one of those girls who was so sweet and pretty, her smile was infectious.  We played for hours and I have to admit, I was confused but I had fun.  Through the years Niki and I remained friends, she hung out with the smart girls  because she was smart, I, the bad girls because I was bad.  But, we always liked each other.

My MIL is Biker Trash.......

Jays mom got the bug.  They are now the proud owners of the 2003 Anniversary Edition Fat Boy.  Yup the same one Jay got for his first bike.  She and Terry went to the dealership to "just look"  Yeah....right.....ok......If you go to "just look" you're fooling yourself.  Once you have the bug it's all over.  I am so excited for them.  Jay and I love our bikes.  That is the one thing we can not get rid of no matter what.  I'm sure they will fall in love like we did and have a blast with us as well.  They bought it from Miya at the dealership we go to, so now they are HOG members of the same group we are.  I can't wait to take them on their first group ride so I can see the smiles on their faces.........Nothing like it in the world!

OH and P.S.  Stevi only has a virus, a virus!  Argggh!  Great, we just get to ride this one out too!

1st ride of the year on the 1st!

Oh Yeah, I'm thawing out as we speak.  Today is actually the 1st day of the year, (I know you're reading it on the 3rd)  and we went on a "Freezing Buns" ride.  We left the house at 10:00 and 27 degrees, brrrrr.  We stopped to get gas and my nose was already almost frozen to my mask.  We got to the dealership with only one incident, I got behind a stinky diesel truck and it blew all it's nasty smoke in my face and I had to pull over because my eyes wouldn't stop watering and were glued shut with mascara.....so much for make-up.

We ended up eating at Grandma Hatties restaurant for lunch and there were around 13 bikes, 20 bikers.  It felt great to ride despite the chill, but as we made it back into Reno, I saw a thermometer that said 50 degrees!  Wow it was a beautiful day to ride, oh and Mom, Bill says "Hi."

Well off to paint the Salon some more, have to work 12 hours tomorrow so I would love to get as much done as possible so I don't have to go in over the weekend to finish up!

Somebody left behind.....

Ahhh, 840 miles down 1160 to go to reach my 2000 mile goal on my Harley.

We started out on Friday morning, Jay and I left the house at 6:15 am to get gas and meet the rest of the HOG group at the Carson City dealership.  We had 20 bikes show up to go on the last ride of the year which is called "Sierra to the Sea"  We end up in Point Arena, just outside of Mendocino.  It really is a beautiful ride, it took us 11 hours to get from Reno to Point Arena and as we rode through the mountain ranges to finally get to our destination, all I could to was suck that beautiful smell up into my nostrils, whether it was pine, cow manure or skunk, I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I have had such a busy summer with Stevi being involved in everything under the sun we have not been able to get more than 3 rides in this year, coming from last years Head Road Captain and the Ladies of Harley Director, that is pretty sad.  I guess as your children get older, they actually require more time and attention when you thought it would have been the other way around.

We rode into Point Arena just after 6pm on Friday evening and stopped at their version of a grocery store and Jay, Denise and I split out groceries into thirds for the weekend so we would have healthy snacks and breakfast while everyone else raided the liquor isle.  I guess they were in a hurry to get their party on........because they left me and Jay at the store.  We ended up catching up, but in my book that is a no no, kind of like when you and your girlfriends our out on the town, you go out together, your stay together, you leave together, right?  RIGHT!  So we arrived at the lighthouse keepers quarters and Jay was really worried about getting stuck in the party house but we lucked out,  we ended up staying with Lori, Mark, Ray and Janey, Denise was supposed to be locked in as our roomy but it didn't work out, she stayed next door, (their are 4 houses that sleep  6 each)  and just came over every morning and afternoon to snack and have breakfast.  Saturday we rode up to Bodega Bay.  We went in 2 groups and we rode in the last group, it was really foggy and we decided after going to dinner the night before and not being able to see a car length in front of us, it was a little too dangerous on those windy roads.  We ended up meeting our friends Mike and Debbie  in the morning and they rode us in, the roads are so windey it takes almost 2 1/2 hours to go 80 miles or so.  The highway we were on is highway 1 which is the road I was on when I crashed my Dyna 3 years ago.  I'll tell that story in my memoirs at a later date...ANYWAYS.....we are in Bodega Bay and we went to the old school house where they filmed "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock, which I have never seen, but have been told around 50 times this weekend that I HAVE to.  Then as Mike and Debbie where getting on their bike, Jay, leading the group took off like a bat out of hell, and left me there AGAIN!  I am a road captain, and we are never supposed to leave anyone behind so I patiently waited for Mike and Debbie and we arrived around 15 minutes after everyone else, Jay was freaking out because he had no idea he left us, next time check your mirrors dingbat!  So then we had lunch and as we were leaving the wharf, Cat and Jerry got stuck in the parking lot and were around 6 cars behind the group.  I kept checking in my mirrors and couldn't find them, over and over, the road was so curvy I wasn't sure if I was missing them because of the trees or because they weren't there.  After around 45 mins. we got to a stop sign and signaled Sena who was our road captain back to Point Arena and signaled her to pull over at a safe spot.  We told her we were missing Cat and Jerry and Jay headed back to find them, around 15 minutes later he came back and said "Nothing"  We told them to go ahead because they had tickets to go see Janiva Magness at the Blues Festival and Jay, Mike, Debbie and I made it all the way back to Bodega Bay were we found them.  They had taken their eyes off the road for just a second and a car stopped right in front of them, and instead of breaking, he accelerated and slammed right into the back of the car.  We sent Mike and Debbie back to the lighthouse to let everyone know what was going on, none of us had phone service and Jay and I stayed with them until a tow truck got there around and hour and a half later, in the meantime all the locals were coming to see what was going on and we watched three young boys break into the Grange Hall and steal champagne and chug the bottle down while we were fixing what we could of the bikes.

The ride back was miserable, Cat and Jerry on my bike with no foot pegs and me on the back of Jays with no back rest almost sliding off his barhopper seat for the whole 2 1/2 hours, my legs where shaking from squeezing and my back was killing me from just the tention I am sure.

Sunday we decided to rest, we were all sore and the four of us were exhausted from the long day, but I announced to the group that I was training in honor of Kathy Taylor who was a HOG member and I would be walking/running the 2 1/2 miles up to the diner and they were welcome to join me.  To my surprise 7 of the group showed up in sweats and tennies or leather and boots and ran/walked the 2 1/2 mile to breakfast!  I was so excited and a couple of the girls may do the marathon with me!  After breakfast Ray was the only party pooper and road bitch (on the back of a bike, for all you civilians out there), back to the keepers houses which was hilarious because he ended up riding on the back of the only Honda that came with us.  He got so much crap for that the rest of the weekend it, was funny.  That day the men watched football, we watched seals, whales, napped and read books until dinner which Heidi cooked in their house, lasagna, salad, german chocolate cake and mint chocolate chip ice cream.  Back to bed and up bright and early to leave by 7:30.   Then Sena blew her stater in her Dyna and had to ride up to Santa Rosa in an Envoy with Cat to go to the dealership and make arrangements to get her ride fixed, so now Jerry and Sena both have a bike at the Santa Rosa Harley Dealership getting fixed, and as they are riding off, Mike dropped his Heritage and broke the mirror off, cracked his windshield and bent his foot peg.  It's always and adventure, there was much more drama but it is almost midnight and I am done!  So we are back safe and sound, in one piece except for maybe some of the bikes, gotta love it, always somebody left behind, but we are always retrieved!

Biker Trash

Day 2 of Run-a-mucca was not as rainy until we were on the way home, the poker run was actually called a poker stagger which means all the stops are within walking distance
so you can drink at each stop.  Since we don't drink, we completed the whole 5 stop poker run in 42 mins.  Sooooooo we hit the  County Fair and I decided it would be nice to go on the rides with Stevi since  she was such a trooper in the rain and with all the biker trash and prostitutes and crackheads running around.  So I went on rides 6 to be exact until the last ride, the Star Trooper, that goes round and round forwards and backwards and I had to put my hand over my mouth because I almost threw up, I had to beg them to stop the ride, and literally had it in the back of  my throat and thought I was going to blow as I staggered off the ride.  I am sure I was green, lets put it this way, we did not make it to the Zipper.  After that, I was done, for the day, so Stevi played games and Stevi won on a dart game, a Chris Brown picture, the Star shoot-out game she won 2 roses and on the Toss-em game, she won a gold fish.......wonderful.  So now we have a goldfish named Mystery.  Then we went to eat at the Flyin' Pig and hit the road, I slept most of the way home because I was scared I was going to get car sick, because even the two club soda's didn't even settle my granny stomach.  So, now I am home, and I survived another Rain-a-mucca!  Check out the sign that
someone re-did in the middle of the night, it is pretty funny and
I wonder how many people actually noticed it since most of the time we don't even read signs that are right in front of our faces, I thought it was hilarious. (Mom, if you don't know what a salad toss is, I'll tell you later, I am sure you know what weed is.)

Biker Trash

Day 1 at Run-a-mucca was nice and relaxing, the fact that Jay walks with his cane for long distances took the embarrassment of driving at a bike run.  BUT we were the only dry bikers there.  We started out with the poker run which started at the Red Lion  Inn in Winnemucca, there were 5 stops and one bonus stop at a Brothel which Stevi was fascinated with,  we also had a free BBQ at the TA Truck stop around 25 miles West of Winnemucca in a town called Mill City.  All the people who volunteered for the poker run were awesome, but some were a little strange, Jay got the same uncomfortable feeling that I got when I was in Doyle, Ca.  It is so weird how that happens sometimes.  When we went to the Brothel,  I told Stevi not to be shocked if she saw one or two of the prostitutes and that they may not have many clothes on, as we walked into the bar area, I checked to see if it was ok for her to come in, it was and she did, and there was a "working" girl sitting at the bar in a fluffy pink bathrobe.  She was very nice and talked to Stevi, who was absolutely fascinated with her 6" clear stilletto platform shoes.  We had a conversation about why a woman might choose that as a profession, or not have a choice, and Stevi was a little sad for the girl, because she seemed so nice, and I am sure she was, and was probably very pretty at one time, but the few young years that she had in her had not been very kind.  Then we went and watched the Stunt jumpers and Stevi's stomach hurt  her so bad because one of the jumpers named Devon almost didn't make a jump and you could see how nervous he was and tense, his head just wasn't in it after that so it was nerve racking, especially since they are doing all their stunts way up in the air over the blacktop parking lot.  Then, off to the burn-out competition where they object of the competition is to do a burnout until you blow your tire.  I don't know how much a tire goes for on the crotch rocket that was in the competition, but the tire that the guy on the Fat Boy blew is $169, Ummmm no thanks, and stinky! Whew!!  Smoke everywhere!  After the burning bike, we were on our way back to the Holiday Inn and Jay flipped a U-turn and took us to see Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.  It was a full day, after the movie we got to ride up the elevator with some drunk Vago's which were looking like they had been partying all day, and it was 11pm and the 'Ol Lady told her 'Ol Man that she wanted to go back downstairs a little later and have another beer......a little later.......It is already 11, I am truly a grandma!  I am going to BED!

Rain-a-mucca

It's called Run-a-mucca, it happens every Memorial Day weekend.  They definitely should change the name to Rain-a-mucca (click on title).  It is like a small town mini version of Street Vibrations.  Every time we have gone, it has been really crappy, I mean, snow, rain, hail, wind.  But because it gets us out of town we go.  This year we are actually driving because Stevi was having a fit that she had to ride for 3 1/2 hours on the back of Jay's bike......so that should mean that it will clear up, they can thank us for it later, we are at least going to take the Harley truck so we look somewhat like bikers, R.U.B.  is what the 1%'s call it, which is an acronym for rich urban biker.  Oh well.......if any of you have seen the movie Wild Hogs, you probably remember the rain scene, been there done that, and since Stevi has also, she knows how miserable it can be when you are wet and cold, she won so we are driving, and doing the poker runs in a cager.  So wish us luck, hopefully the Del Fuegos won't run us off the road and steal our truck!!

The misadventures of a Harley Grandma!!! Chapter 2

What a gorgeous day to ride.  Today was a Poker Run that Cat Trimm put together for Operation First Response (Click on Misadventures title).  It was 77 degrees out today and was even beautiful early in the morning.  We started at the Carson Dealership then fueled up to start at the Chevron Gas Station,  Bill Dixon was our fearless leader, Mike McGuigan, Me, Jay and Stevi and newer members Keith and Suzy.  Our first stop was the Roadhouse Bar and Grill in Minden, then we road through Minden to Woodlands at the Pony Express on the way up the hill to Southlake Tahoe, then we stopped at the Minen Tahoe Airport and onto the South Lake Tahoe dealership.  Afterwards Bill, Mike, Keith and Suzy decided to head to the Genoa Bar for a drink and Jay, Stevi and I headed back to the Carson Dealership for the BBQ and our last card.  Jay ended up with 3 A's, Stevi had nothing in her hand and I had 2 pairs, 7's and 2's, but when Keith and Suzy came back, they had a full house and won $100.  We didn't win during the raffle either, but some new members won a computer service certificate that we really wanted and they were kind enough to give it to Stevi so she can get her computer cleaned out and ready to go......the lady who gave it to us won the $80 color certificate I donated so it looks like I get a new client out of it too.......I should have got her name, but sometimes things get scattered, and I had treated myself to 3 chocolate chip cookies after my burger so I was in a sugar coma, and it literally slipped my mind!  I am sure she will call me, who wouldn't use a gift like that in times like these!! Well, I am home and ready to find a recipe and cook a yummy healthy dinner tonight since I ate too many cookies at lunch (not to mention the 2 chocolate donuts I had for breakfast)  HEY I have my period, BACK OFF!! Oh Yeah, my handsome boyfriend Bill Dixon won a haircut too, so I hope he comes in to get his ears lowered, he told me AGAIN today, he wants to be my step dad, and asked what size ring my mom wears, I showed him how big the diamond should be, (around the size of a golf ball) and said she wears a LARGE!!!  I'm confused, is he flirting with me to get to my mom?  I hate it when that happens!!!
