Happy Birthday Kenneth......

Kenneth turned 12 on the 6th......I know this is late, but blogging anymore seems to be put on hold.  He has changed quite a bit, he used to be so bashful but all of a sudden he seems to be coming out of his shell.  My mom, Stevi and I picked Steve and Kenneth up at their house and took them to Red Robin for lunch and to Game Stop so Kenny could pick out a game, he chose Madden 2009.  Good choice!  We had a lot of fun and laughter, Stevi and Kenny where both being pretty silly.  All in all a good day, wish I could have done more, I probably shouldn't have even spent what I did since I can't even pay my bills lately, but oh well, it was  fun,  then I get home and watch Dr. Phil about people with out of control spending and debt and one of the first things he said was if you don't have the money to spend you don't spend it no matter what.  I am working on this.

I just got one credit card paid off, don't get excited, there was only $114.67 left on it, but another thing Dr. Phil said was to cut up all your credit cards.  Hard to do, don't know why since I can't use them at all anymore.......I am going to do it right now.......sigh......here goes....Everything in my wallet, except my debit card and American Express (I use it to get into Costco)   will be cut up into tiny pieces.  It is now 11:05 am.  Can you do it?

It is very kind of you to take care of your nephew even when you are struggling. Family is important and I'm sure the money will come back to you some how. In regards to your side bar about sending Stevi to camp, is there anything around the house you can sell on craigslist or ebay to get some quick cash?

Oh yes, but I am not good with ebay or craigs list, can you help me?

We stopped using ours awhile ago. We even went to cash for a bit. THAT was an experience. If you don't have the cash in your wallet, then you really can't spend it. An eye-opener to say the least about what we spend on everything. And I'm not a Starbucks or Jamba Juice or anything like that girl. I never do stuff like that. I get the occasional sandwich for lunch but other than that, we rarely rarely go out.
And, sad to say, we had to cut back on the kids activities. If we don't have the money to pay for necessities, then the kids would probably rather eat than go to an activity. The only saving grace is that many of their friends are doing the same so they don't feel like they are the only ones.

You can do it!!! It gets easier!

All of us, well, all of us except Steve, have been in the over spending boat. It's hard to stop, but you can. I still probably spend money that I shouldn't, but I'm pretty much debt free and I've got some savings for emergencies and I'm not sleeping in the car. Life is good.

Good for you Mom, it is so hard, I will not be sending Stevi to camps if I can't figure it out , oh well, I am sure she will survive, it's just so hard to change your spending habits when they have been so casual for so long......

I have my debit card and a Sears credit card (used for emergency appliance purchases only). After my huge debt pay off, I never allowed myself to get into debt again. It's not fun, that's for sure, but I have been able to find joy in other things... like running. hahahaha
