Tales from the Chair Chapter.....12

Drinking can and has ruined many marriage's, I know this from first hand experience.  It almost ruined mine.  I hear it day in and day out as my clients rotate throughout the day.  One of my best friends is going through a divorce because of a lot of reasons, most of them fueled I believe by alcohol, not on his end.  He has been going through the ups and downs for quite awhile now, sometimes you hold on to anything you can to try to save it, but the thread gets thinner and thinner until it eventually brakes.  I am going to call this friend "Will".  Enter my new friend "Jackie"  Super sweet, beautiful, divorced a lot in common with Will, including alcoholism ruining a once happy marriage.  Introduced Will to Jackie and they hit it off immediately.  Will and Jackie are in the same age range, single parents, attractive, physically and emotionally.  She shy, sweet and kind.  He a hopeless romantic, thoughtful, considerate and very loving. Both, adoring hand on parents.  Perfect.  One problem. Things were going great, however, Will, not being much of a drinker, couldn't wait to see Jackie so after having a couple of strong drinks, I feel to ease his nerves, made the mistake of rushing to see her, not able to wait until their date the following evening.  Jackie immediately pumped the brakes and put a halt to any further flirtations.  Caution on her part due to her previous relationship with an  alcoholic.  Can't say I blame her.  I would do the same thing, HOWEVER, Will is a complete mess now, he knows he screwed up a possibly incredible relationship with this wonderful lady because of what he did.  I can definitely see both sides and having many heartfelt conversations with Will regarding our state of affairs with our spouses because of alcohol, I know how much he hates the disease as much as I do and as much as Jackie does.  She's scared and he really screwed up a good thing that was just beginning to blossom.  How does he now make her see he is not "that guy" and "the guy"?  I think they could have something extremely incredible.  I only set people up that I feel would blend together perfectly and have set many people up in the past who are now and still are married.  What should Will do?  Any suggestions?

Stevi's new venture.......

Stevi has been cleaning out her room and getting ready to start middle school by getting rid of her "kid" things that she is starting to lose interest in.  She has a plethora of Ty Beanie Babies, and I got a new camera!  (YAY ME!) So she spent the afternoon setting up an e-bay account and taking pictures and posting her 23 Ty Beanie Babies on the Internet for sale.  We just recently opened a student checking account for her and now that she can see her money come and go, she wants to pad her bank account.  She is such an amazing girl, I am sure her new venture will prove successful. I didn't help her with this at all,  it's all her deal so I will keep you updated and let you know how successful she is.  The bidding is only for 7 days because it was .40 cheaper and now that it is her money, she is much better at checking prices!

Dang it!!!!

I finally broke down and found a charger for my digital camera at a measly $41, and charged my battery all night.  Armed and ready this morning to start taking pictures again, I put my battery in the slot, turned on my camera and Voila, THIS IS WHAT I SAW!

Hey batter hey batter swing!

Sunday's we have been taking Stevi to the batting cages to get her ready for her Fastpitch Softball tryouts.  She is such a natural athlete, she went into the first cage which was 45 miles per hour and it was too slow for her so then she went into the 55 mile per hour cage and was knocking those balls hard!  She is so amazing, she has been getting a little burned out with dance and has dropped  6 classes a week so now she is only taking 5 and they all fall on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I know she will be an amazing ball player, she must get that from me.

For a good cause.......

Some of my favorite adult memories are with Judy.  She is so full of life and always upbeat and happy.  On Saturday her daughter Katie threw a fund raiser for her medical fund.  She has cancer, everywhere.  I haven't seen her for around a month, she hasn't felt up to visitors but in my heart I see her smile, hear her laugh and see her dancing.   The dinner was nice, the house that hosted it nicer and we had an enjoyable evening.  The game room was fun, I enjoyed watching my mom and husband and daughter battle at Foosball, I have tried to download the pictures my mom has sent me, but after 2 hours I am now giving up.  Oh well, I am so computer savvy, I am sure it will come to me at any time.  Please keep Judy in your thoughts and prayers, she in a hospital in Mexico for the next 3 weeks under going some new treatments as she is unable to continue Radiation and Chemotherapy because she is beyond the stages of those particular treatments.  Oh Judy, I love you so much, hang in there.................

Zyrtec vs. Benedryl

I have not been sleeping well and I am exhausted.  Saturday night at midnight I was wide awake and searched the whole house for benadryl.   If I take 2 it puts me out pretty easily and I sleep through the night without waking up 6-8 times.  Couldn't find it anywhere but found the Zyrtec.  It claims it causes drowsiness, figured it must be the same so I took 2.  I fell asleep I think around 3 or 4 Sunday morning.  Not the same.   I was told by a Dr. if I had trouble sleeping to take a couple of Benadryl.  Now I know why he didn't say "or Zytrec"  They are not the same, so don't try this at home!  Yikes, looks like a nap for me during the Superbowl, I am completely sick of football anyways!

Crank it is..........(pages 405-537)

So now Bree sneaks out of the house because she is GUFN to see Chase who is her knight in shining armour despite the fact that he does drugs as well.  It is sad, but I had often wondered why these high school girls had either gotten extremely overweight or way too thin.  For awhile, when my son was in school, I would look at the girls and wonder how they had gotten so thin.  Now it all makes sense, even the "good" girls, popular girls, smart girls got into the monster.  To keep up with everything, stay thin, be accepted etc.  I keep my daughter as busy as possible and always feel that it will keep her out of trouble, now I know I will keep my eyes open, if she is getting overwhelmed and too busy, we are cutting her schedule back.  For those of us that have young children, I know now after reading this book, it only takes one person to change a life forever, if she had been forbidden to go see her father, she may have stayed clean, or not met the boy, who knows I guess, just always know your children's friends and as annoying as we get as parents, it is our job to be nosy, search rooms, invade privacy. It could change our children's lives forever. My sister knows the author of this book, and she really is raising her grandson now, this story is loosely based fiction on her life and her life with her daughter, sad but true.  Keep your eyes open!  Wow, what an incredible book........Thank you Ellen Hopkins.
